Hidilyn Diaz, Elreen Ando miss podium in Asian Weightlifting Championships

Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and Olympian Elreen Ando both missed the podium in the women's 59 kg category in the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Championships on Sunday in Jinju, South Korea.

Diaz placed fourth overall after listing her best record at the snatch at 99 kg, while she missed her last attempt at the clean and jerk at 125 kg to settle at 122 kg. The Olympic gold medalist tallied a total of 221 kg.

Meanwhile, Ando had her best record at snatch at 99 kg while she failed all her attempts in the clean and jerk.

China had a 1-2 finish as Luo Shifang got a total of 238 kg, while Pei Xinyi had 236 kg. Reigning Olympic champion Chinese Taipei's Kuo Hsing-Chun lifted a total of 230 kg.
