Volpe was selected 30th overall pick by the Yankees during the 2019 draft but has been playing in the minor leagues.
He was a non-roster invite to this year's spring training, where he put on an impressive performance, batting .314/.417/.647 with three home runs and 10 extra-base hits in 17 games to earn himself a spot on the Yankees' lineup.
In a video posted by New York on Twitter, Volpe was informed of the news by one of the squad's officials and officially welcomed to the lineup.
