Jon Jones vows to win upcoming fight while Ciryl Gane says he is prepared to wrestle

Former UFC light heavyweight world champion Jon Jones sang praises for former UFC interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane, but he is nevertheless confident that he is going to win when they meet inside the cage.

The two are scheduled to battle in the main event of UFC 285 for the vacant UFC heavyweight world title this Sunday (Manila time), March 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The fight will end Jones’ three-year hiatus, and the former champ says he is ready to resume his winning ways.

“Ciryl seems like a nice guy. He is a great fighter, has great footwork, great striking, ambidextrous in his stances, and I think it is going to be a great fight. I respect Ciryl he seems like a stand-up young man. It is going to be a great fight,” Jones stated.

“I feel like I do not have anything to prove, but at the same time, I just want to be someone that people look up to in the future. I feel like I have put in the work, and deserve a great victory, and that is exactly what I am going to have—a great victory.”

Gane, meanwhile, is coming off an impressive third-round knockout over Tai Tuivasa last September. Unlike his first defeat against former champion Francis Ngannou, Gane promised that he will be ready to go to the ground this time against Jones.

“I did a lot of mistakes against Ngannou in wrestling because I expected more striking so it surprised me. Everybody knows the level of wrestling of Jon Jones, but I am focused about that. We worked on it and we are going to be ready for him,” Gane said.
