Fil-Am speed skater Peter Groseclose qualifies for 2024 Winter Youth Olympics

A Filipino is heading to the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics!

The Philippine Skating Union announced on Thursday that Fil-Am speed skater Peter Groseclose has made the cut to the quadrennial meet to be held in Gangwon, South Korea next year.

Groseclose will compete in short track speed skating.

"This will be a momentous event for the Philippines as it will be the third appearance of Filipino ice skaters in the prestigious quadrennial meet, and the first back-to-back representation for 2020 and 2024 games," PHSU said in its post.

Figure skater Michael Martinez competed in the Winter Youth games in 2012, while speed skater Julian Macaraeg competed in 2020.

The 2024 Winter Youth Olympics is set to be held January 19 next year.
