Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz gets star in Eastwood Walk of Fame

Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, the country's first Olympic gold medalist, has been given a star at the Eastwood City Walk of Fame in Quezon City.

"Salamat sa karangalan na ito," she wrote in her social media account.

Diaz was joined by her husband Julius Naranjo and also mentions other artists, including writer Ricky Lee and actress Maja Salvador.

The bemedaled athlete, last month, swept up three gold medals in the 55kg event of the IWF World Championship and is preparing to qualify for the for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Hollywood-inspired Walk of Fame was created by the late Kapuso host German Moreno or Kuya Germs in 2005. -- BAP, GMA Integrated News
