Philippines reaps medals in South East Asian Fencing Championships
The Philippines bagged at least seven gold medals in the recent South East Asian Fencing Championships held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Philippine Sports Commission on Monday recognized gold medalists Andre Agatep (men's junior individual saber), the team of Arianna Tiu, Kaikaku Dela Serna, Maegan Co Say, Maiev Tyra de Boy (women's junior team sabre), the team of Janna Catantan, Martina Bacay, Hannah Belarmino, Miyake Capina (women's junior team foil), the team of Alexa Larrazabal, Ashley Harrison, Ivana Salvador, Martina Baccay (women's junior team epee), and the team of Agatep, Enrico Suplico, Ram Jimenez, Tomas Robert Cabrera (men's junior team sabre).
In the seniors division held earlier this year, Noelito Jose Jr. (men's senior individual epee) and Wilhemina Lozada (women's senior individual foil) also copped gold medals.
Philippine fencers also bagged four silvers and 10 bronze medals from the tournament's events.
