Richard Bachmann named new PSC chief
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Richard Bachmann as the new Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman.
This was confirmed by Office of the Press Secretary officer-in-charge Cheloy Garafil on Wednesday.
Walter Francis Torres and Edward Hayco, meanwhile, were appointed as PSC commissioners.
The Palace has not provided details yet on why Noli Eala, who served as PSC chief for more than three months, was replaced.
Bachmann served as UAAP basketball commissioner for Season 85. He is also a former Alaska Aces team governor.
Meanwhile, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin swore in the following officials on Wednesday:
- Ariel Nepomuceno - Office of Civil Defense administrator
- Angelito Magno - National Bureau of Investigation assistant director
- Glen Ricarte - National Bureau of Investigation assistant director
Nepomuceno previously served as deputy commissioner of the Bureau of Customs. In August 2017, he was named by then Senator Panfilo Lacson as among those receiving bribes from unscrupulous shippers.
Despite the allegations, then President Rodrigo Duterte reappointed Nepomuceno in November 2017. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
