Chino Trinidad to tap on experience as sports journalist and executive if appointed GAB chairman
Veteran sports journalist and analyst Chino Trinidad would like to tap on his vast experience as a media practitioner should he get appointed as the next Games and Amusements Board (GAB) chairman.
Trinidad is one of the candidates for the GAB chairmanship under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Should he get the appointment, the veteran journalist plans to use his many years of experience in professional sports to improve the governing body.
“In the midst of all the storytelling, I came to understand their struggles and how they carry themselves to victory, and what is lacking. The job of GAB is to regulate and supervise the athletes and the sport,” Trinidad said in an interview on Sparring Sessions.
He is also banking on his experience in different capacities, such as on the executive side for sports leagues.
“I am part of those who started V-League and one of the founding members of SBP (Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas). I have knowledge of how to run professional sports. Many people think I am all talk as a sports journalist or someone who keeps posting on Facebook.”
Also a former commissioner of the PBL (Philippine Basketball League), Trinidad vowed that he will dedicate the next five years of his life to improving the professional sports landscape should he be tasked as the new chairman of the Games and Amusements Board.
“I have a deep understanding than an ordinary media practitioner of what is happening in professional sports,” Trinidad quipped.
