NU reclaims UAAP Cheerdance crown; FEU, UST hailed runners-up


The crown is back in Sampaloc.

The NU Pep Squad was crowned the UAAP Season 85 Cheerdance Competition champion on Saturday, regaining the glory it missed last season.

NU flaunted a colorful routine in line with its “cheer-obics” theme where they performed alongside eye-catching barbell props in front of more than 18,000 fans. 

The FEU Cheering Squad, last season’s champions, went local and performed OPM legend’s Francis Magalona’s some iconic songs like the  Man in Manila, Whole Lotta Lovin, and Mga Kababayan to finish as the first runner-up.

The UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, meanwhile, is back on the podium for the first time since 2018 adter being hailed the second runner-up.

NU garnered a total of 723 points while defending champion FEU and UST copped 719 and 640 points, respectively, to make it to the podium.

NU had won six titles prior to this day while FEU had three. UP and UST remained as the top two winningest teams in the much-awaited competition, grabbing eight apiece. 

UP Pep Squad last won a title in 2012 while the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe last hoisted the crown back in 2006.
