Hidilyn Diaz says world championship a dream come true

Despite winning the Philippines' first-ever Olympic gold medal, for Hidilyn Diaz, being a world champion is also a dream come true.

In an Instagram post on Thursday after sweeping three gold medals in the 55kg event of the IWF World Championship, Diaz wrote, "World Champion! Kay gandang pakinggan, eto ay aking lamang pinapangarap.Natupad din sa wakas!"

("World Champion! So beautiful to hear. This used to just be a dream. It has come true at last.")

Diaz then thanked all those who were part of her journey towards the world championship.

The Olympic gold medalist also said this would be her last stint in the 55 kg class.

"This is my last lift at 55kgs category and I’m happy to end it as IWF World Champion," she added.

Diaz also said she looks forward to the road ahead as she prepares to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"#roadtoparis2024 #goldmedalist hindi ito maging madali pero gagawin Lahat para [makamit] ito. ????????"

("It will not be easy but I will do everything to accomplish this.")

During the Tokyo Olympics, Diaz also competed in the 55 kg event.
