Geje Eustaquio warns Chinese foe: 'I am not a stepping stone'
Former ONE flyweight world champion Geje "Gravity" Eustaquio is raring to prove that he has a lot left in the tank when he ends his two-year hiatus against Hu Yong on the undercard of ONE 164 on Saturday, December 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Eustaquio, 14-8 as a pro, has not fought since October 2020 when he defeated Min Jong Song via unanimous decision.
A crafty battle-tested member of Team Lakay, the Baguio City native said that fans could expect a different approach from him on fight night.
"I want you guys to expect that I will push the pace. I will show you a Gravity 101 version of mine. It has been a long time and I am very excited to showcase a new style," Eustaquio said during the ONE 164 pre-fight press conference.
Hu Yong, meanwhile, is fighting for the first time in 2022 and is coming off a loss against former world title challenger Yuya Wakamatsu.
He sees Eustaquio as a stepping stone to his world title dream—a pronouncement that the Filipino rebuked.
"That was bad. I am not a stepping stone," Eustaquio warned.
