Dustin Poirier submits Michael Chandler in epic encounter at UFC 281
Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier outlasted Michael Chandler and emerged victorious by way of submission on the undercard of UFC 281 this Sunday (PHL time) at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Both fighters were calculated with their attacks in the opening minute of the round throwing a variety of strikes. After landing clean shots of their own, Chandler stunned Poirier with a barrage of punches and then followed up with a takedown.
The fight soon got back to their feet where Poirier got the better of the exchange making a bloody mess out of Chandler's face. Chandler tried to take some time off in round two by going to the ground and attempting a choke but was unable to force a tap.

Chandler looked spent in round three which ultimately allowed Poirier to grab the former's back and force a tap with a rear naked choke at the 2:00 mark of the stanza. The win improved Poirier’s record to 29-7 while Chandler fell to 23-8.
