Carlos Yulo stumbles in floor finals of world championships, finishes 7th
Carlos Yulo failed to rule his pet event, finishing seventh in the men's floor finals in the 2022 World Gymnastics Championships on Saturday (Manila time) in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Yulo, who actually topped the qualifying round with a score of 15.266, stumbled in his finals performance to receive 13.300 built on 6.200 on difficulty and 7.100 in execution.
His output, though, wasn't near enough to land a podium as he wound up at seventh spot among eight competitors.
Great Britain's Giarnni Regini-Moran dominated the event with his 14.533 finish to claim the gold while Daiki Hashimoto of Japan settled for silver with 14.500 as his compatriot Ryosuke Doi copped the bronze with 14.266.
In 2019, Yulo topped the same event but managed to only finish at fifth spot in the 2021 edition, where he also ruled the vault event.
Yulo still has two events left as he will see action on Sunday in the finals of parallel bars and vault.
