RSG feels stronger than ever in bid to retain MPL Philippines crown

RSG Philippines looked shaky early in the MPL Philippines Season 10, suffering from two losses via sweep in their first three games, but a different team showed up in the postseason that swept Onic Philippines in the race to the final four.

Despite a 0-4 record in the regular season against the Hedgehogs, Head Coach Brian "Panda" Lim was not surprised with the sweep given the team's current form.

"We were not surprised because honestly our performance right now is stronger than our MPL Season 9 grand finals tsaka MSC performance," he said.

"We became stronger and as long as we don't make the same mistakes we did in the regular season kahit sino kalaban namin dito sa playoffs, we can win."

True to his word, RSG showed their lethal form against Onic, reminiscent of their grand finals performance in the MSC where they swept Indonesian powerhouse RRQ Hoshi.

They showed poise and composure in the crucial Game 3 encounter where Onic managed to lord over the early game before the defending champions mounted a comeback in the midgame to the late game.

The secret to their strength? It's actually quite simple but crucial.

"Two words lang para bumalik 'yung lakas namin tsaka mas mahigitan 'yung last season at MSC which is Focus and Discipline," said Coach Karl "Gie" Barrientos.

RSG will next face Echo in the upper bracket on Friday, a team they swept during the regular season.
