EJ Obiena finishes second in ISTAF Berlin
After topping several recent tournaments, pole vaulter EJ Obiena finished second in the ISTAF Berlin tournament in Germany on Sunday.
Obiena cleared 5.81 meters to finish second behind Netherlands' Meno Vloon who cleared 5.88 meters.
The Filipino Olympian skipped the 5.88m mark and went ahead to 5.95, which both he and Vloon failed to clear.
Australian Kurtis Marschall also cleared 5.88 meters to settle for third as he completed it in three attempts.
In a post, Obiena said he will keep pushing despite the second place finish.
"A few more competitions before we call it a season. Let’s keep pushing and keep fighting," he wrote.
Obiena recently defeated world no. 1 Armand Duplantis in the Brussels leg of the Diamond League.
The pole vaulter will next compete in Liechtenstein on September 11.
