How TNC Pro Team snapped a five-game MPL losing-skid: Grinding through ranked games

It's no secret for everyone in the MPL Philippines that TNC Pro Team, despite finishing 3rd in Season 9, had been struggling to find their rhythm in Season 10.

Prior to Friday, they had compiled a 1-10 win-loss card in five series matches. With the losses piling up, Coach Paulo "413" Sy admitted it was really challenging to turn their season around.

"To be honest it's very hard kasi we have been losing 0-2. Dun sa Echo na panalo namin, chamba pa kasi split push. Coming into this, mindset is we just have to work hard. Try to use kung ano yung ginawa namin sa scrims and play your best," the coach said.

And finally they made a breakthrough.

TNC suddenly flaunted a lethal performance that thoroughly dominated Onic Philippines, which was leading the league after taking down international champions Blacklist International, Omega Esports and RSG Philippines.

The secret? Playing ranked games separately.

"Ang ginawa namin, dumiskarte kami sa RG (Ranked Game). Sumama kami sa iba, for example, pro team din or malalakas din sa ranked game. Kumukuha kami ng idea sa kanila tapos yun ang pinagsasama-sama namin," revealed Ben “Benthings” Maglaque.

It was actually Coach 413 who came up with the idea and their series against Onic showed that their efforts weren't for naught.

With TNC rediscovering themselves in an impressive manhandling of Onic, Blacklist will be against the wall as they try to avoid a third season loss.
