From 'hindi magpapadurog' to a dominant sweep: Onic scores impressive win in MPL Season 10

A day prior to facing the MPL Philippines defending champions, Onic Philippines roamer Ralph “Rapidoot” Adrales was all praises and respect for RSG Philippines, who also took the MSC 2022 championship crown.

He knew it would be an uphill battle for his young Onic squad, but they looked forward to the challenge, ready to get the most of the few chances of facing the powerhouse.

"Syempre hindi mawawala yung excitement tapos yung pressure di mawawala talaga. Pero masasabi lang namin dun (sa RSG), sasabayan namin sila. Hindi kami magpapadurog," Rapidoot told the press after their 2-1 victory against Nexplay Evos.

But come match day, the hedgehogs pulled off a massive surprise as they swept RSG, including a complete shutout in Game 2 that saw them finish the match in 11 minutes with a monster 8-0 kill tally.

"Yung two game na yun (vs RSG), dun lumabas yung sobrang disiplina namin. Nilabanan namin sila nang scaling to scaling. Sobrang ingat," Rapidoot said in explaining their dominance over their multi-titled rivals.

For Mark "Bluffzy" Delos Reyes, they did nothing out of the ordinary. They won because they knew they could take down the MPL heavyweight in RSG.

True enough, they were not only able to fight toe-to-toe against RSG. They actually dominated the series and put themselves in a tie for second with Omega Esports.

"Ginagawa lang namin yung mga laging naming ginagawa sa practice. Yung mindsetting lang siguro dun lang nagkakaiba since defending champion ang RSG," Coach Bluffzy said.

"Lagi ko lang sinasabi sa kanila na 'Wag lang tayong magpaintimidate' since alam naman natin ang kapasidad natin. Basta ginawa lang natin ang best natin, kaya naman natin silang sabayan."
