Cendy Asusano gets shot put gold in ASEAN Para Games


Para athlete Cendy Asusano added another gold to the Philippines' medal haul in the 11th ASEAN Para Games on Wednesday.

Asusano won her second gold in the meet as she ruled the women's shot put F54 event. Her other gold medal was from the javelin throw F54 event.

Roland Sabido (men's 100m backstroke S9) and Arman Dino (men's 400m T46 race) added silver medals from Wednesday's events.

Meanwhile, bronze medals were awarded to Marites Burce (women's shot put F54), Andy Avellana (men's high jump T42/T63), King James Reyes (men's 1500 T46), Arnel Aba (men's 100m butterfly S9), Deterson Omas (para judo J1 male -60kg), Pablo Catalan Jr. and Minnie Der Cadag (class 10 mixed doubles), Benedict Gaela and Andrew Arandia (men's double class 9), Pablo Catalan, Jr. and Linard Sultan (men's double class 9), and Russel Cundangan (para judo J1-J2 +57).

According to the Philippine Sports Commission and Philippine Paralympic Committee tally, the Philippines has 14 gold, 13 silver, and 29 bronze medals as of Wednesday.
