Chooks-to-Go extends help to Lydia de Vega
Chooks-to-Go extended help to Philippine sports icon Lydia de Vega who has been suffering from complications brought by Stage 4 breast cancer.
On Wednesday, the food brand announced that it had released P250,000 to help in De Vega's expenses.
"Madame Lydia is a living legend in Philippine sports, a true queen," said Chooks-to-Go president Ronald Mascariñas. "During her heyday, she was someone we looked up to as she broke barriers for the Filipina athlete."
"Imagine, she won numerous Asian championships and dominated the Southeast Asian region for years. And she did it with class and flair that have yet to be matched up to this day," he added.
De Vega's daughter, Stephanie Mercado de Koenigswarter and her husband David, received the check.
Mercado de Koenigswarter said.
Olympic medalists and boxers Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco and Eumir Marcial handed the assistance to De Vega's family.
On Thursday, EJ Obiena also pledged assistance to the Philippine sports icon.
