Khabib Nurmagomedov, Daniel Cormier inducted into UFC Hall of Fame
Retired UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier and former UFC lightweight world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov were inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on Friday (Philippine time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
Undoubtedly two of the greatest mixed martial arts fighter in history, Cormier and Nurmagomedov were known for their boxing and wrestling pedigree and have trained together at the American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, California.
"Winning any UFC title is so hard. To win one is an amazing accomplishment, to be a double champion is crazy," Cormier said.
"Don't allow for the bad to cripple you. Allow for it to serve as motivation to do something even bigger and better. Because if you get dealt adversity, if something bad happens and you quit, you'll never know what you truly can be."
Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, retired from the sport with a perfect record of 29-0. He decided to call it quits in 2020 after he defeated Justin Gaethje via submission at UFC 254. Touted by some as the greatest lightweight of all time, he also holds wins over Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
"I feel like I did a lot of things for this sport and I'm very happy for this. This is a very big honor for me. When they put you in a high level position like this, it means your hard work paid off," Nurmagomedov said.
