NU core, Faith Nisperos, Eya Laure banner Philippine pool for AVC Cup

After sweeping UAAP Season 84, the National University women's volleyball team is set to headline a young Philippine pool for the upcoming 2022 AVC Cup set to be held from August 21 to 29 at the PhilSports Arena.

Led by rookie MVP Michaela Belen, the NU core composed of Jennifer Nierva, Alyssa Solomon, Ivy Lacsina, Lams Lamina, and Camille Cal will banner the pool.

Also invited are Alleiah Malaluan, Thea Gagate, Leila Cruz, Fifi Sharma, Jolina de la Cruz, and Mars Alba of La Salle as well as UST standouts Bernadeth Pepito, Eya Laure and Imee Hernandez, Ateneo's Vanie Gandler, AC Miner and Faith Nisperos; and UP's Alyssa Bertolano.

Adamson University's Trisha Genesis and Louie Romero are also part of the pool.

Non-UAAP players such as California Precision Sports' Casiey Dongallo and Jelaica Gajiero were likewise called up.

"Today is a milestone for the PNVF. This is just the start with new, young fresh players for the AVC Cup," said Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) president Tats Suzara.

The 23-woman pool will compete in the AVC Cup, the second major international event the country is hosting after the Volleyball Nations League last week.
