RSG Philippines takes MSC 2022 crown with commanding sweep of RRQ Hoshi
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — RSG Philippines avenged an upper bracket loss to Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi in dominant fashion with a 4-0 sweep as the Philippines retained the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 crown on Sunday.
A day before the finals, RSG eliminated compatriots Omega Esports in a close 3-2 victory, where they promised to their fellow Filipinos a revenge win against the Indonesian in the grand finals.
And they did.
During the opener, it was RRQ who had their way early on, taking objectives to establish a slim 2k net worth lead at the 8th minute which they expanded into 4k gold lead after a 2-0 wipe and a lord objective.
It looked like all was lost for RSG when the Indonesians finally took down all inhibitor turrets by the 17th minute but the Filipinos unleashed a series of superb mechanical displays to evade RRQ's base turret siege and score a 2-1 exchange to create some breathing room.
RSG then won the enhanced lord in the 20th minute that they capped off with a 3-1 trade off to erase three outer and two inhibitor turrets in one go.
They completed the comeback win with a clutch 5-1 wipeout in a 27th minute lord fight, 1-0.
It was a similar story in Game 2 as RRQ once again lorded over the early game, taking a 6-1 kill lead after a 7th minute turtle fight.
But RSG always found their way in surviving RRQ's aggression leaning on Nathanael "Nathzz" Estrologo's (Masha) backline exploits to repeatedly disrupt the Indonesian's positioning, highlighted by a 25th minute initiation where he isolated Skylar that enabled Jonard Cedrix "Demonkite" Caranto (Barats) secure the lord, 2-0.
Game 3 was no different as RSG leaned on their macro to come out on top of team fights, none more decisive in a 20th minute lord fight where Aqua (Yve) managed to turn a 0-2 pick off into a 4-2 reversal with a pinpoint release of the Real World Manipulation.
RSG did not let up the rest of the way as they secured the succeeding enhanced lords with Eman "EMANN" Sangco (Karrie) stepping up to score a double kill in a 5-2 wipeout in the 29th minute to reach match point, 3-0.
RSG then sustained the momentum in Game 4, taking a 5-1 7th minute kill lead and 3k net worth lead courtesy of Demonkite's (Karina) 3-0-2 KDA.
RSG left no stones unturned this time as they played a methodic closeout win, led by Light's (Khufra) nifty set-ups in an easy 16th-minute conquest.
