MSC 2022: Todak takes down Omega, sends defending champs to lower-bracket

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Omega Esports failed to bank on a momentum building Game 2 win and succumbed to hometown bets Todak, 2-1, to relegate themselves to the lower bracket of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 on Tuesday.

Omega, though, isn't in unfamiliar territory as they came from the lower bracket when they reached the grand finals of MPL Philippines in both Season 7 and Season 9, along with their MSC 2021 championship.

With no clear early to mid-game victor in Game 1, Omega made their move in the 12th minute as they scored a 3-2, taking down Idreen Bin Abdul “Momo” Jamal (Barats) in the process to secure the luminous lord.

They followed it up with a 5-1 exchange in a lengthy 16th minute team fight to secure another lord but the Malaysians punished the Filipinos overaggression in a base turret siege that turned the table around, negating a massive 7k net worth deficit.

It was all Todak's game from there as they used a 21st minute lord to take the opener, 1-0.

With momentum on their side, Todak controlled major stretches of the game owing to Muhammad “Ciku” Danial's (Beatrix)  superb sharpshooting, including a decisive one-on-one takedown on Christian “Raizen” Sumagui (Fanny).

But Omega gave the Malaysians a taste of their own medicine, punishing them in a 22nd overaggreession to score a 5-1 wipeout, taking Game 2 in one fell swoop, 1-1.

Todak opened the decider with vindication, scoring a 4-1 exchange in the 6th minute to establish a comfortable 3k gold lead.

They banked on the first lord of Game 3 to finally conquer the defending champs.
