Joshua Pacio to defend ONE world title against Jarred Brooks on June 3

Reigning ONE strawweight world champion Joshua Pacio of Baguio City’s Team Lakay is slated to defend his title against former UFC fighter Jarred Brooks at ONE 158 on June 3.

The news was first reported by Sports Illustrated by has since been announced by ONE Championship on their website.

Brooks, 19-2 as a professional mixed martial arts fighter, earned his shot at Pacio’s gold-plated strap when he defeated the then no.1 contender Bokang Masunyane last month by way of first-round submission.

“I am the champion and ready to defend. I know Jarred will come as strong as he is, as ready as he is, but I’m going to use all the tools we’ve been working on. My team and I are set to remain champion,” Pacio said in an interview with SI.

Pacio, 26, last saw action last September when he defeated Yosuke Saruta via first-round technical knockout. He holds an impressive MMA record of 19-3 and has defeated every world champion in ONE strawweight history.
