Omega returns to grand finals with sweet escape against TNC
They are not only the comeback kings, they are also the lower bracket kings!
Mirroring their Season 7 feat, Omega Esports once again crawled out of the lower bracket with a 3-0 sweep of TNC Pro Team to arrange a grand finals date against RSG Philippines in the final day of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 on Sunday.
It was sweet revenge for Omega after being sent down by TNC to the lower bracket courtesy of a 3-1 loss in Day 2. They will be facing an RSG squad that hasn't dropped a single match in the playoffs.
With the win, Omega also secured the last Philippine ticket to the MSC 2022 as the defending champions.
In Game 1, Omega made the first move and took a 3-0 kill spread in the early game but TNC stuck to their objective-oriented gameplay and secured the turtle buffs until they made a breakthrough in a 6th minute turtle fight with a 3-1 wipe.
TNC continued to mount the pressure and established a 5k net worth lead at the 10th minute mark but Duane "Kelra" Pillas (Clint) displayed pinpoint sniping in a 13th minute skirmish to secure the lord off a 4-1 exchange.
Not even a superb set-up play courtesy of Ben "Benthings" Maglaque (Ruby) in the 16th minute that forced a 2-0 takedown could stop Omega in their surge as they imposed themselves in a 20th minute lord fight and secured the next two luminous lords for the win.
It looked like TNC was on the way to an equalizer when they turned a close early game in Game 2 into a midlane lead after a solid 3-1 counter initiation in the 11th minute.
But Omega fought back in the late game sparked by a 15th minute 2-0 takedown followed by a pivotal luminous lord in the 19th minute that they capped off with a 5-0 wipeout, 2-0.
Omega then engaged TNC in a close early to midgame in Game 3 until they scored a decisive 4-0 wipe in the 17th minute for the luminous lord.
Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog (Atlas) concluded the sweep with a fatal links set-up on Daniel "SDzyz" Chu (Karina), leading to a 5-2 wipeout.
