Bren's switch to rookie line-up works wonders in first season win against streaking Omega

Buoyed by their rookie recruits, Bren Esports finally registered their first win of the season after escaping Omega Esports, 2-1, to avoid a winless campaign in Week 4 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 on Friday.

The former world champions suffered from five straight sweeps before finally taking their first series win against a motivated Omega squad who was coming off back-to-back wins in Week 3.

Bren found resurgence from the unlikely entries of new boys Dale Rolan "Stowm" Vidor (Yve), Vincent "Pandora" Unigo (Dyrroth), Jomari "Jowm" Pingol (Uranus) and Mujahid "Lord Malikk" Malik (Aulus) into the starting line up that helped them score their first points of the season.

The M2 world champions survived an early-game superior composition drafted by Omega in Game 1 that enabled Lord Malikk to score a maniac killing spree in the 9th minute as Bren took control.

Another double kill from Lord Malik touched off a 3-0 wipe in the 17th minute that gave Bren the opening win with a dominating 12-2 kill tally. He finished with a perfect 8-0-2 KDA.

In Game 2, Dean Christian "Raizen" Sumagui (Ling) once again rose to the occasion as his early game brilliance led to a 7-2 Omega kill lead with a 5-0-1 KDA.

He once again took over in a 10th minute clash, securing the lord then carrying Omega to a 5-1 trade off that took down two inhibitor turrets. It was all Omega the rest of the way.

Raizen finished with a monstrous 10-0-7 KDA to force the decider.

It looked like a reverse sweep was on the way after Omega established a 6-1 kill and 3k gold lead early in Game 3 but Bren scored an all-important 2-0 wipe in the 7th minute team fight to equalize.

Both teams then engaged in a see-saw battle that saw Bren winning the team fights but Raizen (Ling) outwitting the opposition with nifty split pushes. That was until the Season 7 champions scored a 2-0 pick off in the 21st minute that finally gave them their first win of the season.
