Alex Eala bows to Czech foe to end Orange Bowl singles stint; advances in doubles

Alex Eala made a second round exit in the 2021 Junior Orange Bowl Tennis Championship girls' singles on Thursday (Manila time).

The 16-year-old Filipina lost to Kristyna Tomajkova of Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3, in her final tournament of the year.

Her campaign in Florida, however, is not yet finished as the tennis ace is still competing in the doubles event.

Eala and partner Solana Sierra of Argentina made quick work of the American duo of Krystal Blanch and Madeleine Jessup, 6-2, 6-1, in the first round.

The Filipino-Argentinian tandem will next face Mirra Andreeva of Russia and Katja Wiersholm of USA in the second round.

Sierra is no stranger to Eala as she was the same foe that the Filipina netter dispatched during the opening round of her much-awaited debut in the Wimbledon tournament last July.
