SM expands sports facilities in new SM Game Park
Filipinos looking for sports activities won't need not to look too far with the opening of a new recreational place in one mall in Las Piñas.
SM Lifestyle on Friday opened its first SM Game Park in SM Southmall, which features facilities for different sports.
"We want to go beyond bowling and to do that, we have to create a one stop shop for active recreation," Joseph Silva, SM Lifestyle assistant vice president for Sports and Leisure said.
More than the usual bowling alleys, the SM Game Park also has equipment for billiards, table tennis, and archery. Arcade games are also available there.
"People also can convene here, we can have events, we have a sports pub, and we definitely have more to offer than our usual bowling center. it's almost double, if not triple the services that we have in our usual bowling center," added Silva.
Silva said they chose these sports because of their flexibility.
"These sports are very flexible also in the indoor venue because our usual idea is, let's go out and do some sports. Now, we also want to elevate the mall experience," he said. "It's not just going to the mall to buy your groceries or retail or eat out. You now have a reason to go to the mall to exercise, to convene, to do sports."
Silva said the SM Game Park could be also used by athletes who want to conduct their training in the facility. Athletes from the Philippine Table Tennis Federation and the Philippine Bowling Federation also graced the opening ceremony. "We give importance to athletes and sports development and that's what we do even in this time of crisis," he added.
The SM Game Park will also have a UFC Gym which is targeted to open early 2022. Aside from SM Southmall, Silva said they are eyeing next to open another SM Game Park in the SM Mall of Asia.
