Onic Philippines takes first MPL PH S8 grand finals slot with sweep of Omega

Onic Philippines is back in the grand finals after three seasons following a sweep of Omega Esports, 3-0, in the the upper bracket finals of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 playoffs on Saturday.

Onic opted for an early-game aggressive draft in  Game 1 that proved effective as they established a 3k gold lead by the 8th minute.

The two-time MPL runners-up then used a 12th minute turn around where they negated a pick off on Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (Lancelot) to score a 2-1 exchange and secure the luminous lord that led to the opening win, 1-0.

Onic did not let up in Game 2 as they slowly but surely took the lead, leaning on the zoning capabilities of  Allen “Greed” Baloy (Yve) and Marky “Markyyyy” Capacio (Pharsa) that helped the Onic secure all the turtle buffs.

They completed the dominant showing with a 5-1 wipeout in the 10th minute to secure the lord and take a 2-0 lead.

With their backs against the wall, Omega found success early in Game 3 and looked poised for a comeback after a 3-0 takedown in the 6th minute, courtesy of a Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Claude) double kill. Dean “Raizen” Sumagui (Lancelot) was on a rampage at that point with a 2-0-4 KDA.

But Kairi saved the day for Onic with a crucial 12th minute pick off on Raizen followed by a lord steal that turned the tables around.

Kairi mechanical play brilliance was in full display from there as he weaved his way in clashes to carry the comeback for Onic and complete the sweep.

He finished with a monster 9-1-3 KDA as he almost single-handedly negated Omega's 23-13 kill spread.

Onic will dispute the Season 8 title with the winner between Omega and Blacklist International in the lower bracket finals tomorrow.
