Onic secures at least a Top 3 finish with sweep of NXPE

Onic Philippines continued their Season 8 brilliance as they sent Nexplay Evos into the lower-bracket via a 3-0 sweep in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Playoffs on Friday.

It was complete domination for Onic as they looked well prepared against NXPE en route to the one-sided playoff series win.

The two-time MPL runners-up easily handled NXPE in Game 1, controlling majority of the map after a 4-1 wipe in an 8th minute turtle fight.

A flawless counter-initiation in the 13th minute helped Onic score a 4-0 to quickly pull ahead, 1-0.

Despite scoring equal kills in the early to midgame in Game 2, the storyline was one and the same as Onic slowly built up their lead with better macro strategies.

They were ever threatened all-game long and completed the conquest in the 18th minute with Marky “Markyyyy” Capacio (Kimmy) unleashing his solid playoff form with a 6-0-9 KDA. Ian “Beemo” Sergio (Rafaela) was also instrumental in Game 2 after he compiled a 1-1-17 KDA.

Onic did not let up and easily imposed their will in the closeout game, establishing a 3k gold lead as early as the 4th minute with Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (ling) snowballing early on a 1-0-2 KDA.

They never looked back from there and completed the dominant sweep in the 13th minute.

Onic now awaits the winner of the Omega Esports-Blacklist International match-up for a chance to secure a slot to the Season 8 grandfinals and a ticket to the M3 World Championship this year.
