NXPE, Omega, fined by MPL Philippines days after controversial series
Following the controversial match of NXP Evos and Omega Esports, the Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Philippines handed down a $3000 penalty for each team for breaking Rules 12.1.1.2 Competitive Integrity and 12.1.5 Professional Manner.
The series was heavily criticized for their unorthodox strategies including a 5-man Flameshot party employed by NXPE in Game 1 and the questionable team composition of Omega Esports in Game 2.
Both games ended in one-sided results that broke the league statistics.
Additionally, Setsuna “Dogie” Ignacio was also handed an additional $500 penalty and two-game suspension following a prohibited pose during the live post-game celebration.
All players who participated in Game 1 and 2 of the series are also disqualified from receiving any Season 8 personal awards.
This development comes just a few days after Blacklist International goldlaner Kiel “OHEB” Soriano was handed a similar penalty for displaying a prohibited pose after his team's win against Omega Esports.
