Edrian Celestino finishes 18th overall in 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy

Edrian Celestino has finished at 18th place overall in the 2021 Nebelhorn Trophy.

The 23-year old skater scored a total of 176.10 points at the end of the two-part competition on Friday evening in Oberstdorf, Germany.

In the free skating part of the competition, he scored 111.78 points, with 47.86 in the technical score and 63.92 in the program components.

Celestino performed to the music of "You & Me" by Aron Wright, and included in his routine some jumps such as a triple lutz-toe loop combination, a double flip, a triple loop, and an axel at the end of his performance.

American skater Vincent Zhou topped the free skate with 186.88 points, Russia's Mark Kondraktiuk placed second with 159.58, while France's Adam Siao Him Fa finished third with 154.55.

With the 18th place finish, Celestino missed the outright qualification to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Only the top seven skaters in the competition will book slots to the Winter Games.

Zhou (284.23), Siao Him Fa (243.78), and Kondraktiuk (241.06) made it to the top three at the end of the competition. Gabriele Frangipiani (Italy), Sihyeong Lee (South Korea), Vladimir Lintvintsev (Azerbaijan), and Brendan Kerry (Australia) complete the list of the top seven skaters of the Nebelhorn Trophy.

Despite missing the outright qualification for Beijing, Celestino's technical scores in the Nebelhorn Trophy will allow him to join the Four Continents Championship, which is open to non-European member nations of the International Skating Union (ISU).

A minimum technical score of 28.00 in the short program and 46.00 in the free skate is required to join the said tournament.

During the short program on Thursday, Celestino got 32.69 points in the technical score,  finishing at 16th place.

The Four Continents Championship was supposed to be held in January 2022 in Tianjin, China, but it was cancelled due to travel restrictions. The ISU will decide on a new host country by October.

Sofia Frank, the female representative of the Philippines, will perform her free skate routine, Saturday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. —JCB, GMA News
