Nexplay EVOS registers first win at the expense of Omega
NXP EVOS finally scored their first win of the season in dramatic fashion as they squeaked past Omega Esports, 2-1, in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 elimination round on Sunday.
The Dogie-led squad broke the late game curse on Omega opponents, beating their rivals in a late game showdown on a sneaky midlane push to up their season total to three points while Omega remained in the middle of the standings at six points.
Reeling from three straight losses to start the season, NXP opted for an early game-aggressive draft and scored a double kill right away at the 1st minute courtesy of Jeniel "Yellyhaze" Bata-Anon (Selena).
Just when NXP looked like they were in control, Omega executed a 3-1 bottom lane counter initiation in the 9th that cut the NXP gold lead to 1k and opened up their map.
But Renejay "RENEJAY" Barcarse (Alice) stopped them on their tracks with superb outplays in the 12th minute to secure a double kill for himself and the lord for his team. He finished with a 3-1-4 KDA in the Game 1 win.
NXP looked poised for a sweep as they scored a 5-2 wipeout in the 12th minute of Game 2 spearheaded by Jhon "H2wo" Salonga's (Hayabusa) triple kill that led to a luminous lord take.
But Omega once again stuck to their late game miracles, fending off the NXP pressure and finally found their chances in a 16th minute clash where they forced a 5-2 exchange to take down two NXP inhibitor turrets.
Both teams then delivered clutch heroics in the succeeding minutes until Omega came out on top on a 23rd minute scramble that forced the rubber match.
It was another epic finish for the decider as NXP finally scored their first win of the season when they caught Omega sleeping to execute a surprising midlane split push after an exhausting 23-minute game.
