Bren Esports to miss Valorant Masters in Berlin

Filipino team Bren Esports will miss the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) Master 3 in Berlin, Germany.

In a statement, the VCT Southeast Asia Stage 3 champions said they will not be able to join the tournament in Berlin due to tight deadlines and travel restrictions.

"We have exhausted all possible options that would enable our team to travel to Berlin on time and safely to compete," Bren Esports said in a statement on Friday. "Unfortunately, given the unfavorable circumstances, tight deadlines, and travel restrictions that are out of our control, our team will not be able to travel to Berlin to compete."

Despite this, Bren is grateful to those who are supporting the team.

"We are thankful for all the support that the community has given us through these trying times, and we will continue to break barriers because of your overwhelming support," it said.

Earlier, Valorant Esports said it will tweak the tournament format of the VCT Masters with Bren being out of contention.

"As a result of this decision, the format for the tournament will be modified and Group D, where Bren Esports was placed, will pivot to a double round robin, with the top two teams advancing to the Elimination Stage," Alex Francois, Head of Competitive Operations for Valorant Esports, said in a statement.

With this, Bren Esports will also be awarded 175 VCT points and the prize for qualifying in the Masters event.

"This was a tough decision and we share in the disappointment of our players and fans. Despite this setback, we are proud of Bren Esports' achievements in VCT so far and look forward to their participation in future events," Francois said.

Bren Esports qualified for the Masters after winning the Southeast Asia stage of the tournament in August.

With Bren out, Singapore's Paper Rex will be the sole representative from Southeast Asia in the tournament. -- BAP, GMA News
