Alex Eala enters 2021 US Open juniors tilt as No. 2 seed
The hunt for a third Grand Slam title continues for Alex Eala.
The young Filipino netter is set to see action in the 2021 US Open Juniors championship as the no. 2 seed in the tournament that starts September 6 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City.
The US Open, which is played on hard courts, is the last of the four Grand Slam events for the year after the Australian Open, French Open, and the Wimbledon.
Eala, 16, looks to punctuate what has been a fruitful streak for her. She and her Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva ruled the 2021 Roland Garros in Paris, France.
Prior to that sensational victory, Eala was also able to bag her first-ever Grand Slam crown after she and Indonesian partner Priska Madelyn Nugroho snared the 2020 Australian Open.
In Wimbledon, however, Eala fell short after early exits in both the singles and doubles divisions.
The 2021 US Open final draw, meanwhile, has yet to be released as of posting time but some familiar names are expected to be standing in Eala's way like top seed Victoria Kasinteva, Ane Mintegi Del Olmo, and Madisog Sieg.
