Yuka Saso drops to 27th place in AIG Women's Open
Yuka Saso crashed out of top 10 after firing a two-over 74 in the third round of the AIG Women's Open at the Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland Saturday night (Manila time).
The Filipino-Japanese golfer has garnered a total of three-under par 213 to wound up in a joint 27th place, where she is tied with five other contestants, through 54 holes.
It was an off day for the 2021 US Women's Open champion after hitting an early bogey at the second hole to finish the front nine with eight pars.
Saso, who saw action in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, fired another bogey at the five-par 12th hole before launching birdie on the five-par 14th hole.
She wrapped up the back nine with six pars for a total of 74.
This performance put the 20-year-old ace in a tough position as she could not continue her fiery start where she finished well within the top 5 after the first two rounds.
She hit a four-under 68 in the first round while a one-under par 71 in the second day kept her at pace.
Leading the tournament are Anna Nordqvist of Sweden and Nanna Koerstz Madsen of Denmark.
Saso will tee off at 7:10 p.m. tonight (Manila time) for the fourth and final round.
