OhMyV33nus speaks up about harassment issue: We should always give respect to others

Blacklist International player Jhonmar "OhMyV33nus" Villaluna on Wednesday opened up about the harassment issue in the Mobile Legend: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines community.

In a video clip from a streamed game that surfaced this weekend, OhMyV33nus and teammate Danerie "Wise" Rosario were mentioned in offensive comments from Omega Esports player Grant Duane "Kelra" Pillas.

In a Facebook post late Tuesday, OhMyV33nus said "this issue should be addressed correspondingly because this is one of the reasons why I am here for – Equality and Respect for all."

"I hope this serves as a lesson for everyone dahil hindi lang naman ang bansa natin ang naapektuhan, kundi pati na rin sa iba," the Blacklist player added.

(I hope this serves as a lesson for everyone because not only our country is affected, but others as well.)

"Gusto ko lang ipaalala sa inyo na hindi kailanman naging maganda ang pambabastos at never itong naging katawa-tawa. Sabi nga nila, “Words matter”, kaya ayaw kong sumagot sa issue na ito na alam kong hindi magkakaroon ng magandang epekto."

(I want to remind all of you that vulgarity is bad and never funny. As they say, "Words matter," that is why I did not want to answer this issue if I know that it will not have a good effect.)

OhMyV33nus also reminded everyone to think of the consequences of one's words and actions.

"Let’s all have a sense of responsibility to whatever we do because everything has its own consequences. And as a member of LGBTQIA+ and a professional player, I will continue to be an inspiration to fight and uphold my advocacies," added the MPL Philippines Season 7 champion.

OhMyV33nus also called on everyone to give respect to others.

"Hindi man iyon ibigay sa iyo, ang mahalaga ay naibigay mo 'yon sa kanila. Always choose to #V33BETTER and #V33WISER."

(They may not give it to you, at least you give it to them.)

Blacklist International on Tuesday issued a challenge to everyone in the gaming community to "be better" following the incident.

MPL Philippines on Monday imposed a fine and two-week suspension on Kelra due to his remarks.
