Tony Hawk had to explain Margielyn Didal's funny caption to a reporter
It seems not everybody got the joke.
Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk had to explain to a reporter that Filipino Olympian Margielyn Didal was joking when she posted a funny caption alongside a picture of her and Hawk in Tokyo last week.
On Twtitter, Hawk narrated the conversation where he was asked about Didal.
"I was asked during an interview today: 'How does it feel to go to the Olympics and not be recognized by competing skaters, like Margielyn Didal?'" Hawk wrote.
I was asked during an interview today:

“How does it feel to go to the Olympics and not be recognized by competing skaters, like Margielyn Didal?” So I had to explain that she was joking with her caption. My life is weird. pic.twitter.com/RvNQSFy7jt
The reporter was referring to a photo posted by Didal with Hawk, which the Filipina skateboarder wittily captioned, "This guy asked me to take a photo with him and I let him because he looks like Tony Hawk."
"So I had to explain that she was joking with her caption. My life is weird," Hawk continued.
On his Twitter account, Hawk is fond of posting about funny encounters with fans, including those who tell him he looks like Tony Hawk without realizing who he actually was.

him: huh?
At a drive-thru, waiting on my order, looking at phone. Guy at window: “you kinda look like Tony Hawk”

me (turning towards him, assuming he is in on the joke): “haha, cool”
Him (looking disappointed): “well, from the side you do. Here’s your food.”
He has done this often enough that it has become a meme to do it as a joke, which is what Margielyn's caption was.
