On Twitter, Hidilyn Diaz inspires taekwondo Olympian Kurt Barbosa to win his own gold one day

Hidilyn Diaz continues to inspire her fellow athletes after her historic achievement in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa on Monday night tweeted his hopes to achieve his own Olympic gold medal.

"Balang araw ako din," he said.

To which Diaz replied on Tuesday, "Yes."

"Congrats my inspiration [and] idol!" said barbosa, quoting Diaz's reply.

The 22-year-old Barbosa on Saturday made his Olympic debut in the Round of 16 of the men's -58kg category, where he lost to World No. 1 Jang Jun.

His campaign in the Tokyo Games ended when Jang failed to reach the finals of the event, which would have given his opponents, including Barbosa, a chance to contend for a bronze medal.

Diaz on Monday ruled the women's 55-kg weightlifting event to become  the Philippines' first Olympic gold medalist.
