Hidilyn's coach, BF thanks Filipino community for supporting 'Team HD'
Hidilyn Diaz' coach and boyfriend took to social media to give thanks for the unmatched support the "Team HD" got from the Filipino community.
Moments after Diaz claimed the country's first-ever gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, Julius Irvin Naranjo posted an Instagram story dedicated to the supporters of the Filipina star lifter.
"I just want to thank everyone again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Team HD," he said on Monday night.
Naranjo is also a seasoned weightlifter.
The 30-year-old Filipino-American athlete serves as strength and conditioning coach for Diaz and was with her all throughout her training camp in Malaysia.
Naranjo said that the whole team sacrificed a lot en route to Diaz' historic victory, which put an end to the country's near century-long gold mint drought.
"We worked so hard for this," he said.
