Carlos Yulo advances to Olympics' vault finals, but bows out of five other apparatus
Carlos Yulo will advance to the final round of the vault exercise in the artistic gymnastics tournament of Tokyo Olympics Saturday at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.
The 21-year-old gymnast, though, failed to advance in five other events, including the rings, parallel bars, horizontal bar, pommel horse, and floor, his pet event.
With only the top eight athletes in each apparatus advancing to the finals, Yulo placed sixth in vault with a tally of 14.712.
He, however, didn't make it to the top 8 of his favorite event, the floor, after placing 44th with a score of 13.566.
He finished with a score 14.000 in the rings, 13.466 in the parallel bars, 12.300 in the horizontal bar, and 11.833 in the pommel horse---all of which were not enough to earn himself a finals ticket.
