Olympic-bound Kristina Knott recovers from COVID-19
Sprinter Kristina Knott is now fully recovered from COVID-19 with only a few weeks left before she wages war in the Tokyo Olympics.
Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) president Philip Ella Juico said that the Filipino-American track star has completed her battle against the virus and will soon fly from Sweden to Austin, Texas, where they will set up another training camp.
From Texas, Knott's camp will leave for Japan for the Summer Games where the track and field events will take place from July 30 to August 8.
"Yes, she's now okay and she's very excited to compete in the Olympics. I just talked to her the other day and she said she's recovered," Juico said in a mix of Filipino and English in an interview with GMA News Online Wednesday.
Knott contracted the virus last June 22, just moments before she saw action in a tournament held in Sweden.
The announcement was made by Juico and Knott's coach Rohsaan Griffin on June 23, which was the same day that Knott punched her ticket to the Summer Games.
"Kristina was asymptomatic and that's a good thing. But she's now raring to compete and hopefully have a good performance," Juico said.
