Filipina golfers Yuka Saso, Bianca Pagdanganan officially clinch Tokyo Olympics slots
The Philippines now has 17 athletes set to take part in this year's Tokyo Olympics.
Filipino golfers Yuka Saso and Bianca Pagdanganan finished within the Top 60 of the Olympic golf rankings, therefore booking their slots in the prestigious quadrennial meet.
The 2018 Asian Games gold medalists will join another golfer in Juvic Pagunsan who has recently earned a ticket to the Summer Games after finishing in the Top 60 as well.
Saso, 20, and Pagdanganan, 23, would also be the 16th and 17th athlete seeing action in the Olympics after EJ Obiena (pole vault), Carlos Yulo (gymnastics), Hidilyn Diaz and Elreen Ando (weightlifting), Eumir Marcial, Irish Magno, Carlo Paalam and Nesthy Petecio (boxing).
Completing the Philippine contingent are Cris Nievarez (rowing), Kurt Barbosa (taekwondo), Margielyn Didal (skateboarding), Jayson Valdez (shooting), Kiyomi Watanabe (judo) and Kristina Knott (track and field).
Saso is coming off a historic feat earlier this month after she snared 2021 US Women's Open and has emerged as the first Filipino to do so.
