Taekwondo jin John Vergel Reyes of the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) prevailed in the NCAA Season 96 juniors boys' poomsae standard on Wednesday.
Reyes bested four other participants after scoring a total of 7.217 points to take home the gold medal.
Aaron Isaac Sevilla of the San Sebastian College-Recoletos settled for the silver medal with a score of 6.717 while San Beda University's Tor Timothy Castillo wound up in third place with 6.634 points, bagging bronze.
Lebron James Alemania of host Colegio de San Juan de Letran finished 6.117 for a fourth-place finish followed by Kimichi Ramirez of College of Saint Benilde-La Salle Greenhills in the fifth spot with 6.067.
Prior to the juniors boys' tilt, San Beda and Jose Rizal University ruled the seniors' poomsae.
Red Lions' Alfritz Arevalo scored an impressive 7.217 points to rule the men's division while Lady Bombers' Emie Fernandez tallied 7.550 to take the gold medal in the women's.
NCAA taekwondo action returns on Thursday with the showcase of freestyle poomsae event.
