Carlos Yulo bags bronze in All-Japan gymnastics tilt

Carlos Yulo won another medal ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.

The Olympic-bound gymnast on Sunday copped a bronze medal in the men's parallel bars of the All-Japan Gymnastics Championship after getting a score of 14.966.

Rio 2016 gold medalist Yusuke Tanaka and Kaito Sugimoto topped the tournament after getting the same score of 15.400.

After placing in the podium, Yulo said he feels blessed for competing with the world's top gymnasts.

"Being able to play with the bests is already an achievement for me," Yulo said in an Instagram post.

"It was a pretty good performance... but unfortunately, I didn't reach my personal target score. I'll definitely be using this experience to improve on my skills for future events."

Back in December 2020, Yulo won two bronze medals in the All-Japan Gymnastics championship.

Yulo, currently the world no. 1 in artistic gymnastics floor exercise, is one of the ten Filipino athletes who have already booked a slot in the Tokyo Games.

Other qualifiers include boxers Irish Magno, Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Carlo Paalam, pole vaulter EJ Obiena, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, rower Cris Nievarez, taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa, and skateboarder Margielyn Didal.
