The Estonians will now advance to the semifinals and will face Germany's Joshua Filler and Christof Reintjes.

On the other side of the bracket, the pairs from Slovakia (Jakub Koniar and Jaroslav Polach) and Great Britain (Karl Boyes and Darren Appleton) will battle for a slot in the Finals.

Prior to the Philippines' loss, they staged an upset against Americans Skyler Woodward and Billy Thorpe in the second round of the competition.

The Philippines previously bagged the title from the said tournament three times. The tandem of Efren "Bata" Reyes and Django Bustamante won in 2006 and 2009, while Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza won in 2013. -- BAP, GMA News
