Chris Weidman breaks a leg at UFC 261

Former UFC middleweight world champion Chris Weidman suffered a freak injury and first-round technical knockout loss against Uriah Hall on the undercard of UFC 261 this Sunday at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Florida, USA.

Seconds into the opening round, Weidman threw a leg kick that landed on the side of Hall’s knee. His right leg instantly went spaghetti then lost his balance upon putting his foot down to resume his stance.

The accident was reminiscent of Weidman’s rematch with ex-UFC middleweight world champion Anderson Silva as the latter suffered the same in 2013. Weidman, who previously beat Hall outside the UFC, lost 6 of his last 8 fights and dropped his record to 15-6 while Hall improved to 17-9.
