Alex Eala falls short against Swiss foe in first round of W15 Manacor
Tennis ace Alex Eala fell short against Swiss opponent Simona Waltert in the first round of another edition of the W15 Manacor tournament held in Spain on Wednesday.
Waltert beat Eala, 6-4, 2-6, 5-7, a week after the Filipina tennister won their first round match in the W25 Manacor.
Waltert will face Portugal's Francisca Jorge in the next round.
This is the first time that Eala made a first round exit in the tournaments she played this 2021.
Back in January, the 15-year old won her first professional title.
Eala then had three more quarter finals stints, including the W25 Grenoble in France.
Prior to this tournament, Eala reached the second round of the W25 Manacor, where she was defeated by Croatia's Jana Fett.
Eala is currently no. 765 in the Women's Tennis Association rankings, and world number 3 in the International Tennis Federation junior girls rankings.
In 2020, she won the Australian Open Juniors doubles title and reached the singles semis of the French Open Juniors. -- BAP, GMA News
