Alex Eala falls short in W25 Manacor second round, snaps quarters streak
Alex Eala's quarterfinals streak has ended at four consecutive tournaments after falling short in the second round of the W25 Manacor on Thursday.
The Filipino teen put up a scare against Croatian Jana Fett, but the 24-year-old third seed outlasted her in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Eala set up their clash after cruising past Swiss opponent Simona Waltert in the first round.
Prior to the tournament, the 15-year-old ace was on a roll to start the year after bagging her first pro title in January.
She reached three more quarterfinals stints afterwards, including at the W25 Grenoble in February.
Eala currently sits at no. 763 of the Women's Tennis Association's rankings, while she is at the third spot of the International Tennis Federation's junior girls ranking.
In 2020, she won the Australian Open Juniors doubles title and reached the singles semis of the French Open Juniors.
