Alex Eala cruises past Swiss foe in new edition of W25 Manacor

Alex Eala once again proved that she belongs in the tennis pro circuit after cruising to a straight sets win in the first round of W25 Manacor on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old engineered a comfortable 6-1, 6-4 victory against Switzerland's Simona Waltert, who is ranked no. 284 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).

It's the 17th career win for Eala, who is steadily climbing the WTA rankings at no. 763.

The Filipina teenager currently has one professional title on her belt after ruling the first leg of the Manacor tournament in Spain back in January.

She reached the quarterfinals in her next three tournaments, including the W25 Grenoble in France.

Eala bagged the Australian Open Juniors doubles title last year and advanced to the singles semifinals in the French Open Juniors.
